Let’s hear it for the end of another week as we prepare for the weekend. The Snoop has her hair on fire as our team works to bring you the best EdNET ever, but I always have time to gather and share the scoops with you too so please read on for your weekly dose now….

Matt Hulett will be joining Rosetta Stone Inc. next week in the newly created position of President of Language. He will oversee the Company’s language learning business and will report directly to CEO John Hass. Matt will have strategic oversight of the direction and execution of the language business’ product, sales and marketing, and infrastructure functions to deliver the best possible outcomes for language learners globally.

Matt is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, most recently from Pioneer Square Labs, a Seattle-based startup studio where he served as Entrepreneur in Residence. Prior to Pioneer Square Labs, he served as the Chief Product Officer of privately-held SaaS-based Human Resources technology provider, TINYpulse, and as the Chief Executive Officer of Click Sales, Inc. (dba ClickBank), a privately-held top 100 internet retailer. Prior to ClickBank, Matt served as the Senior Vice President of RealNetworks’ games division, where he led the right-sizing effort of the traditional gaming business to its first run-rate profitability in several years and led the business’ turnaround strategy pivot into social and mobile gaming. With extensive experience in the technology space, his previous positions also include President of the corporate travel division of Expedia and CEO of AdXpose.

Join me in congratulating Matt on his new role with Rosetta Stone!

Joseph South, a strategic national ed tech expert focused on evidence-based learning transformation, has joined the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) as the organization’s chief learning officer. Joseph will lead ISTE’s newly formed Learning Team. The group will continue the significant work already being done to provide members with high-quality, professional learning experiences and resources grounded in the ISTE Standards. It will also expand this work to include more flexible options for members in both online and face-to-face settings.

Joseph previously served as the director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. In this role, he was an adviser to the Secretary of Education and developed national ed tech policy, formed public-private partnerships to assist state and local education leaders in transitioning to digital learning, helped school districts expand the use of openly licensed educational resources, and collaborated with stakeholders to nurture a robust ecosystem of ed tech entrepreneurs and innovators.

Joseph holds a doctorate in instructional psychology and technology from Brigham Young University. He is a past recipient of the ISTE Making IT Happen award and the Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers Award from the Center for Digital Education.

Congratulations to Joseph on his new role at ISTE!

And Jason Gorman is joining the EqualEd team. Jason reports that at EqualEd, they are creating a pedagogically innovative and technically cutting-edge STEM education program for K-12 learners around the world. Let’s wish Jason all the best on his new role!
