Vicki’s Scoops for August 25

Well, this has been a busy week to remember for the Snoop! I got scooped as you learned of my retirement at the end of this year, I have started amazing EdNET session planning calls with speakers, we got my sister through a big surgery, and now we are making preparations in advance of Hurricane Harvey. What’s a girl gotta do to get a little down time? That’s ok! I am on it, and all is good. And speaking of good, check out the good scoops I have for you this week….

New roles for colleagues and friends….

CUE (Computer Using Educators) has announced that Jason Seliskar has joined the Membership Engagement Team along with Cate Tolnai in a Director’s role.

Jason has held a variety of positions in his career as an educator, including elementary teacher, K-12 Technology Coach, Library Media Specialist, Consultant, and his current position as a fourth grade teacher in Covina-Valley USD. He is also a Google Certified Innovator, Google Certified Trainer, and Apple Distinguished Educator. He currently is President of San Gabriel Valley CUE, a CUE affiliate in Southern California.

The newly developed team of Cate and Jason is a direct outcome of CUE’s annual Leadership Development Institute, held in July 2017, and reflects the Board’s vision for CUE to provide enhanced member and affiliate learning network support. The Membership Engagement Team will oversee affiliates and Learning Networks, social media, press relations, and communications. The Membership Engagement Team is committed to engaging CUE’s growing membership.

Please join me in congratulating Cate and Jason on their new roles!

Let’s head off to that weekend, friends! I have to tell you that as my retirement has been announced—my personal scoop here—I have been pretty overwhelmed with and humbled by many thoughtful messages and personal anecdotes regarding how we met or something you learned from me or how you feel you knew me, even if we have not officially met (love that!). Each of these touches me deeply, and I will be holding on to them forever. How blessed I have been to be able to help keep our wonderful community connected. And of course, I am not through yet! Keep your scoops coming!

Here in Houston, we are dreading but are hopefully prepared for whatever Hurricane Harvey is going to give us. But my prayers are for all those across my state and other Gulf state areas that will be impacted. This looks like a really bad one, as I write. I hope and pray I am wrong. Have a safe and good weekend wherever you are. You will find me back here next Friday! Till then….Vicki, the Snoop
