The Education Scoops for March 22

This week marks the first week of spring and new growth is on it’s way. Growth comes with announcements of new products and service offerings for the education market. This round of the scoops has quite a bit of news in the area of new product and services launches, so I broke that out into it’s own section.

New Partnership Promotes Social-Emotional Learning Tools to Hispanic-Serving School Districts
Partnership between Love In A Big World and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities will increase access to social-emotional learning curriculum and resources

Love In A Big World and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) have announced a new partnership designed to increase access to social-emotional learning tools in Hispanic-Serving School Districts (HSSDs). HSSDs are defined as K-12 districts whose total enrollment is at least 25 percent Hispanic, and who are affiliate members of HACU. Through this collaboration, HSSDs will regularly receive news and information about the Love In A Big World social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and will have a dedicated contact to help them acquire resources and materials to support teachers in their efforts to foster students’ social and emotional competencies. Alive Studios Previews Math Journals and New STEM App at CUE and ASCD
The simple-to-follow book and free app use a menagerie of zoo animals to teach number recognition, counting, number writing, and shapes.

NWEA, the not-for-profit provider of assessment solutions, announced the launch of its Educators for Equity Grant Program, a new initiative for helping schools foster academic growth and achievement for preK-12 students who face systemic barriers to academic opportunities. The program will award grants of up to $10,000 to schools, school districts, and non-profit organizations to help fund initiatives and programs designed to support the academic development of under-served students.
