5 Ideas to Keep Your Marketing Going Strong Into the New Year

The holiday season is here. Time for the shopping, decorations, food, and festivities. It’s also winter break for schools. A little downtime to spend with family and friends…the best gift of the season. It’s also time to check on your marketing plan to educators during school breaks.

Often, many educational marketers shut down right along with the schools. However, just because schools are closed doesn’t mean your marketing engine should pause. Since mobile has become a dominant marketing platform, educators are still within reach even during their school breaks. You don’t have to go dark during breaks since educators are active online and on social media.

Here are 5 ideas to stay top of mind with educators and take your marketing through school breaks and right into the new year.

  • Be generous. The education community is generous, and many companies participate in philanthropic efforts all year long. However, for many charitable organizations, the need during this time of year is particularly poignant. Partnering with an organization, especially one that is aligned with your corporate mission, is  mutually beneficial. The organization benefits from your contributions and your company gives back to a cause in a meaningful way. Increasingly, people want to buy from organizations that do good.
  • Set it and forget it. Keep those leads flowing during school breaks with a pre-set email trigger campaign. Educators are smartphone users who often check email on weekends and during school breaks. Set up a campaign to pique your audience’s interest, such as a special sale, a thank you offer, or great content for them to enjoy and share. Remember, the best performing campaigns are personalized and relevant.
  • Put your company on display. This is a good time to get traction with display ads. A campaign during school breaks can help you score brand awareness and drive traffic to your website. Display ads continue to work even when teachers (and you) are not at work. If you have an initiative or product launch early in Q1, support it with a teaser campaign. Keep your brand awareness alive during school breaks.
  • Be social. Extend the holiday cheer to your social channels. Use social media to demonstrate appreciation to educators. Post content that is humorous and heart-warming. Create and share lighthearted videos that get attention. Share free digital resources that teachers can use anytime. Write seasonal blogs and share across your channels. And don’t forget to include some special offers!
  • Do a little house cleaning. Just like the end of a party, year-end is a great time put things back in order. Think about doing some data hygiene, a year is a long time in the life of a house file. December may be a good time to do some internal file maintenance. If you give some attention to your file now, you’ll start 2024 with a better-quality house file that produces stronger returns.

But before you and your teams take some much-deserved rest, be sure you’ve set yourself up with a plan that can be working for you even when you’re not.
