Social Emotional Learning in Schools is the fourth and final publication that makes up the State of the K-12 Market Report 2018 series.

MDR conducted an online survey to K-12 teachers in December 2018. Over 50% of educators reported they were currently implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs in their school. This report, produced in partnership with Committee for Children, serves as a summary and analysis of survey findings.

It explores SEL in schools today, how well prepared teachers feel with regard to implementing SEL curriculum and what barriers they face in addressing their students’ social and emotional development.

Each chapter of the report offers key takeaways providing valuable insights for providers of educational resources, curriculum developers, and related industry professionals. With districts placing increased importance on SEL and including this area in their strategic plans, the outlook for providers of SEL resources is strong. Demand can be expected to grow, not only for SEL curricula but also for resources that arm educators with appropriate training and the means of evaluating the effectiveness of SEL curricula.
